About Southern Softpaw League (SSL)

Founded in 2009 and proudly serving the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Community, the Southern Softpaw League (SSL) is an all-inclusive, fun, friendly, competitive and charity-minded softball league.

SSL does not discriminate, regardless of sexual orientation, race, age, gender or disability. SSL has a mission of helping metro-Atlanta‚Äôs four-legged friends, along with providing a sports league with a social and friendly environment for softball players, fans and animal lovers.

Games are played at Nickajack Park in Mableton/Smyrna - 5500 Nickajack Park Rd, Mableton, GA 30126.

Our Mission

Collectively working toward helping our four-legged friends while having fun playing softball.
Bringing our community together with the support of the local bars, restaurants, businesses, and churches.

Our Principles

Have fun.


No individual ratings.


Play slow pitch softball with ASA rules.


Play with integrity, respect, heart and good sportsmanship. 


Saturday games; no games before 9:30 am.


Work toward league sponsorship to keep team and player fees to a minimum.


Make league donations to local animal charities in the name of ALL teams and encourage strongly encourage teams to match league donations.


Host-bar rights are given to businesses and sponsors that pay for part or all of any weekly operational league expense.


Round robin tournament to help determine team skill level and best divisional fit.


Welcome party and cookout.


Have the best and fun filled sign-up parties to recruit new players and teams.


End-of-season league banquet.


Pets are always welcome (designated areas).


Host annual charity fundraiser events whenever possible.


Host Coaches and players softball clinics.
